Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about image uploads, stitch math, quotas, languages, and pattern ownership.

What does KnitCraft AI do?

KnitCraft AI turns a doll photo or a written description into a complete amigurumi crochet pattern. It reverse-engineers the shapes, drafts round-by-round instructions, checks the stitch math, and presents a printable spec sheet with materials, abbreviations, parts, and assembly notes.

Which image formats and sizes can I upload?

You can upload JPG, PNG, or WebP images up to 8MB. Images must be at least 50 x 50 pixels and no larger than 4096 x 4096 pixels. Before analysis, the upload is converted to a clean JPEG and scaled so its longest side is at most 1200 pixels.

How does the stitch math verification work?

Each round is parsed into the stitches it consumes and produces: a single crochet consumes one stitch and produces one, an increase consumes one and produces two, and a decrease consumes two and produces one. The auditor compares those totals with the declared stitch count and the previous round, then flags any round where the numbers do not add up.

Are the patterns free?

Yes. The generator is free to use within a daily allowance: anonymous visitors can generate 2 patterns per day, and signed-in users can generate 10 patterns per day. The allowance is tracked per day on the server.

Which languages are supported?

English and Simplified Chinese. English patterns use standard US crochet terms such as sc, inc, dec, MR, ch, and sl st. Chinese patterns use the standard Chinese X, V, A notation and terms such as 环形起针.

Who owns the generated patterns?

You own the patterns you generate. Every new pattern is private by default, and it is only shown publicly if you explicitly switch that pattern to public. You can also delete patterns from your My Patterns library.
